Fast and successful digitalization of logistics at the market leader for cable routing systems
lanz oensingen AG
The challenge - complex and error-prone logistics
Lanz oensingen AG was founded over 100 years ago and is still entirely family-owned today. It is the Swiss market leader in the production, distribution and installation of cable routing systems, conductor rail systems and electrical work terminations. The company employs around 100 people at its headquarters in Oensingen and throughout Switzerland.
The products of lanz oensingen AG are delivered to the wholesalers' sites in special containers. As the respective locations of the containers were not previously recorded, some containers could no longer be clearly assigned over time. Another part of the range is delivered directly to the construction site. The physical delivery bills signed by the recipient were manually transferred to the backend systems by the administration department for the accounts receivable material account calculation
Implementation with iDIP - fast and paperless logistics processes
In a conceptual phase, the current logistics processes were analysed and prepared for end-to-end digitalization so that they can now be carried out completely redundancy-free and without paper. The carriers received a new, intuitive iDIP mobile app for recording the containers, which they can use to digitally record the data at the time of delivery using QR codes. The administration team also received a new iDIP app for easy processing, which they can now use to access the central data at any time via a web browser. After an initial delivery of the planned functionalities, the app was adapted and expanded in an agile manner. The following main functions were implemented:
- Package tracking: As the containers themselves are not fitted with sensors, the wholesaler is automatically recognized based on the current position of the iDIP Mobile app. After scanning the container, the carrier creates a booking-in on site - with just one click.
- Digital delivery note: When delivering materials, the carrier takes a photo of the unloading location and records the number of containers used. Together with the automatically recorded coordinates, the recipient has all the information they need to sign the delivery bill directly in the iDIP Mobile app.Administration app: Web application tailored to the lanz oensingen AG process for managing and handling forwarding processes, from accounts receivable management and material account management to managing pallet credit.
- Mobile app for freight forwarder: The freight forwarder receives a mobile app on which he can easily handle his order processing, delivery note creation and pallet management processes.
- Intuitive user interfaces: The administration can call up the recorded data at any time via the web browser with just a few clicks and thus maintains an overview of all material and container deliveries as well as the customer's material accounts.
The result - loss-free, simplified and fast logistics work for all employees
Thanks to end-to-end process digitization with iDIP, the location, volume of containers and accounts receivable material accounts are transparent for the administration at all times. As the data is entered directly into the iDIP mobile app by the freight forwarder upon delivery, all paperwork is eliminated and additional manual entry by the administration is no longer necessary, which significantly increases processing efficiency and minimizes potential sources of error. The user interfaces of the iDIP mobile app and the administration have been designed to be simple and intuitive, so that the required data can be accessed in just a few clicks. This has also significantly improved employee motivation for their daily work.
Based on the implementation of this first project, further processes have already been identified, which can now also be digitized step by step with iDIP.
"Thanks to the iDIP platform, we were able to completely digitize our process so that we no longer have to laboriously re-record the paper delivery bills and the locations of the containers are known through tracking. All data is now stored centrally and clearly, so that we can easily access it at any time via a web browser. Our employees finally have time to focus on more important work."
